Most people respect those who have more than the usual brainpower or intelligence. But one of our expressions-- "egghead"--does not really sound like praise for a person who thinks.
Egghead comes from what as believed to be the common shape of an intellectual's head. An intellectual's head looks like an egg, so the story goes, because all the thinking he does causes his hair to fall out.

    달걀머리 (1)

    대부분의 사람들은 비상한 머리나 지적 능력을 가진 사람을 존경한다. 그러나 우리들이 사용하는 표현 중“egghead”라는 말은 생각이 깊은 사람에 대한 진정한 찬사로 들리지 않는다.
    달걀머리는 지식인의 일반적인 머리 형태라고 여겨진 것에서 유래되었다. 이야기에 따르면 지식인은 생각이 많기 때문에 머리털이 빠져서 머리가 달걀모양이 된다고 한다.
