우스갯소리로 A speech should be like a women’s skirt – the shorter the better. (연설은 여성의 치마와 같아서 짧을수록 좋다)라는 말이 있습니다. 여기서 ‘연설을 짧게 하다’ 를 영어로는 make one’s speech short, keep one’s talk brief 와 같이 씁니다.

Speaker: Thank you for your kind introduction. As the last speaker of the conference, I’ll try to make my talk as brief as possible so that we can have more time for questions and answers. I’ll address three issues in my speech, and I have several slides I want to show you. So could we have the lights dimmed a little? Thank you.
