Baloney는 정치인들이 자기 정적들의 생각을 묘사할 때 흔히 사용되는 말이다. 몇 년전 민주당 대통령후보 지명전에서 게리 하트 상원의원은 자신을 차세대의 지도자라고 묘사했다. 그는 자신의 경쟁자인 전 부통령 윌터 먼데일을 지난날의 후보라고 명명했다.‘웃기는 소리]’라고 먼데일은 응수했다.
